Picture of the Stroudsburg Jr. High building

Located in Stroudsburg, on Chipperfield Drive, SJHS has an enrollment of 1,050 students in grades eight and nine. Built in 1999, the Jr. High's building was named after Earl F. Groner.

Mission Statement - The Stroudsburg Area School District, an increasingly diverse community, will provide a safe and supportive environment in which all students receive a quality education designed to promote lifelong learning and success in an ever-changing global society.

Philosophy - The philosophy of SJHS is compatible with the District's mission and belief statements. We believe the primary goal of SJHS is to meet the unique academic, emotional, intellectual, physical and social needs of all students within a safe environment. We encourage all students to become active participants who are responsible for their own learning. We believe all students can be successful by actively participating in activities to help them become creative thinkers, effective program solvers, and independent, life-long learners. All students will participate in developmentally appropriate activities that will help them acquire sound decision making informative literacy skills. We believe all students, staff, parents, and community members should become equal partners in the educational process through a balance of rights and responsibilities.
